Events Wisconsin’s Best Motorcycle Events
Wisconsinites love motorcycles, which makes sense as it is the headquarters of Harley-Davidson after all. It is also home to some of the most beautiful back roads and state parks in the whole midwest. Over 283,000 motorcycles are registered in the state — that’s the 9th highest number in the country. Because there are so many motorcycles and so many motorcycle enthusiasts, there are also a lot of great motorcycle events, rallies, and rides held throughout Wisconsin each and every year. Here is a list of just some of our favorite Wisconsin motorcycle events.
Held on the first Saturday in May, this all-day benefit and block party is a family-friendly event that aims to break down barriers between the motorcycle community and the community at large. The hope is that, by raising awareness and increasing interaction between riders and non-riders, bikers can be safer on the roads. Ideally, because more motorists will be paying attention and keeping an eye out for them.
The event takes place at Fondy Farmers Market in Milwaukee and has something for everyone including food, games, vendors, raffles, live music, and of course, motorcycles! (Note: This event is held the same day as the Road Runner Annual Bike Blessing, but there’s no reason you can’t do both!)
Held on the first Saturday in June, the Ridin’ for a Reason Fundraiser happens every year and raises money for Marshfield Clinic’s Mobile Mammography Unit. It features a beautiful ride in and around the Eau Claire area, including Chippewa Falls, Rock Falls, and Durand. In addition to the ride, there will be door prizes, a raffle, music, and food.
If there’s one thing bikers love as much as riding it’s helping others. The Christmas in July Charity Ride is sponsored by the Bull Falls Harley-Davidson of Wausau. There’s a $10 donation per bike to join the ride, and even Santa joins in on a motorcycle! The ride ends up at Marshfield Children’s Hospital where collected toys are handed out to the kids receiving treatment there. There will also be raffles, food, music, and more.
The Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) will take their annual motorcycle tour and road trip along Lake Michigan over Labor Day weekend. Featuring four days of riding with fellow H.O.G. members, the touring rally starts in Battle Creek, MI with a party. From there, the ride goes along the shores of Lake Michigan to the Upper Peninsula and Lake Superior in Minnesota before coming south again into Wisconsin. The tour ends with Bike Night at the Harley-Davidson Museum.
This annual bike show takes place each December — indoors, thankfully — and is an opportunity for bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts to keep their passion alive in the long winter months. The Mama Tried Motorcycle Show will feature over 100 bikes from builders from all over and will include choppers, flat-trackers, bar hoppers, and more. The event brings in people from all over the Midwest for food, motorcycle gawking, a bike raffle, the Flat Out Friday motorcycle race, famed vendors, and more.
There are, of course, more biker events than we’ve listed here. To find out about more shows, rallies, and rides, check out the Bike Week listings. If you’re from out of state and want to participate, you can also rent a motorcycle from Eagle Rider in Oconomowoc.
