About Attorney David Gruber

Early Life
David was born in Passaic, New Jersey, just miles from New York City. The son of a police captain and a bookkeeper, David was encouraged by his mother, Bernice, to become a lawyer from an early age. He attended high school in Passaic, where he excelled both academically and athletically, receiving notable accolades in baseball and basketball.
David furthered his education at the University of Delaware, where he was recruited to play Division 1 basketball. David served as co-captain of the Fightin’ Blue Hens basketball team. He played college basketball during his tenure at Delaware from 1975-1980. After graduating, he attended Marquette University Law School and graduated in 1983. It was at Marquette where David met his wife of 40 years, Nancy, and fell in love with Milwaukee, which they chose to be their home.

Attorney David Gruber founded Gruber Law Offices about 40 years ago and has been practicing law for 41 years. For over 35 years, David has been on television as both the voice and the face of Gruber Law Offices. David’s “ONE CALL…THAT’S ALL!” has been a call to action, a firm philosophy, a way of life, a signal to the people of Wisconsin, and a guiding and educational force for decades.
The firm, which is family-owned and family-oriented, has earned numerous awards, recognitions, and memberships. Attorney Gruber is a member of an exclusive group of leading personal injury attorneys in the country and has been recognized as Milwaukee’s Best Personal Injury Attorney, among several other notable legal and community accolades. Additionally, David has been honored as one of the National Trial Lawyers' Top 100 Trial Lawyers, a designation that requires members to possess the “knowledge, skill, experience, and success held by only the finest and best lawyers in America.” Membership is extended solely to the “most qualified attorneys from each state who demonstrate superior qualifications of leadership, reputation, influence, stature, and public profile.” David has spoken throughout Wisconsin and the United States on topics related to founding and operating a successful personal injury law firm.

As part of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, membership is limited only to lawyers who have won multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of their clients. In addition to the firm’s highly successful personal injury practice, David and his son, Attorney Steven Gruber, have been involved in sports law and contract negotiations, including a recent contract for a well-known basketball coach worth over $50 million.
Community Involvement

He is actively involved in various charitable organizations, including the Milwaukee Urban League, the MACC Fund, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milwaukee & Kenosha, IndependenceFirst, Make-A-Wish, Hometown Heroes, Sojourner Family Peace Center, UW Carbone Cancer Center, the LGBT Community Center, Feeding America, House of Peace, United Community Center, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation and countless others.
David has been featured as a “mogul” on the TV show “Project Pitch It” for five seasons, showcasing and encouraging Wisconsin entrepreneurs. David, and his son, Steven, will continue their roles as moguls in the upcoming season. Project Pitch It is a similar concept to “Shark Tank” and is Wisconsin’s own entrepreneurial platform. Project Pitch It airs in every TV market across the state of Wisconsin.
David has also chaired several notable community events and looks forward to supporting vital organizations in the future. David and Gruber Law Offices have sponsored initiatives benefiting the MACC Fund and UW Carbone Cancer Center, making donations based on the Milwaukee Bucks' made three-point baskets and the University of Wisconsin Men’s Basketball team’s free throws during their regular season home games. Gruber Law Offices also partnered with the Milwaukee Brewers on our Outs for Hope Campaign for cancer research in partnership with the Brewers.
ItsAaron
In the recent past, David was deeply involved in a partnership with Aaron Rodgers, where David and Aaron launched the itsAaron.com project to raise awareness for individuals and organizations that are positively influencing our world. The itsAaron.com project exemplified David and Aaron’s shared passion to help make the community a better place. Specifically, the itsAaron endeavor involved surprise visits to deserving individuals and organizations. These visits are shown not only as short snippets on television but extended video episodes that can be viewed on itsAaron.com and prove that together, we truly can make the world a better place.
The viral videos associated with David Gruber and Aaron Rodgers itsAaron project have had millions of online views. David’s philanthropic work in conjunction with Aaron Rodgers and the itsAaron project have been highlighted by national media outlets, such as the USA Today, Sports Illustrated, and the Huffington Post. The notoriety and attention the project created has been extremely important to David because it has influenced others to “be inspired, be involved.” The project stresses that community involvement is not limited to only financial contributions, but also to the dedication of time, mentorship, and additional resources ultimately creating a positive spirit and togetherness in our community. Frequently seen at local charitable and sporting events, David is a passionate supporter of the Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, Marquette Golden Eagles, Wisconsin Badgers, UW-Milwaukee Panthers, and the Milwaukee Admirals, as well as numerous youth basketball, baseball, and AAU programs.
Personal Life
Outside of Gruber Law Offices, David is most passionate about his growing family. He and Attorney Nancy Gruber have been married for over 40 years and are proud of their two children, four beloved grandchildren, and grandpuppy.
Nancy, a Cum Laude Marquette University Law School graduate, is a Managing Attorney at Gruber Law Offices and responsible for many of the day-to-day developments and decisions at Gruber Law Offices.
Nancy and David have two adult children, Steven and Lauren. David Gruber’s son, Attorney Steven Gruber, has been an Attorney at Gruber Law Offices for 11 years. Steven graduated from Whitefish Bay High School and then attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he was a successful and important member of the men’s basketball team.
Steven then attended Marquette University Law School, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In addition to being an award-winning attorney, Steven has been heavily responsible for the explosive growth and success of Gruber Law Offices. Lauren, likewise a Division 1 collegiate athlete, attended Whitefish Bay High School where she played for a State Championship tennis team and also won the Division 1 individual state championship. Lauren then graduated with honors from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she was captain of the Badgers varsity tennis team in 2011-2012. She obtained her Masters of Physician Assistant degree at Marquette University and is currently working in the field of Pediatric Oncology. Lauren is also a key contributor to the success of Gruber Law Offices. Both Steven and Lauren are married and have two children.
The Gruber family is firmly entrenched in Wisconsin, and the family is honored to be in a position to give back to the communities they love. Philanthropy is part of the fabric of their family values.
