Biography

Attorney John J. Hansen grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. Raised by a single parent, he worked his way through college at the University of Alabama, eventually graduating with academic honors in English and Anthropology.  He then continued his education at John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois, where he was accepted on an academic scholarship.  He values hard work and determination and worked through school to pay for his schooling and room and board.

John Marshall Law School is known for its trial and litigation lawyer training.  From the very beginning of his law school career, Attorney Hansen concentrated in personal injury litigation and trial work.  He tailored his educational studies and activities in law school towards personal injury law.  He held a clerkship at one of the most prestigious personal injury and medical malpractice firms in Chicago, as well as assisting a personal injury firm that routinely tried the most personal injury cases of any law firm in Chicago.

After graduation, he took a position at a general practice firm in Rockford, Illinois.  Attorney Hansen’s success recognized when he was formally was offered a management position in the Personal Injury Department. After several years managing their Personal Injury Department, Attorney Hansen joined Gruber Law Offices.  He practices exclusively in personal injury law.  Attorney Hansen has been with Gruber Law Offices approximately 10 years.

Attorney Hansen has a compassion for his clients while also being an aggressive advocate, fighting to get his clients the ultimate compensation they deserve.  Attorney Hansen has taken numerous cases to trial, resulting in outstanding jury verdicts and large recoveries for his clients.  He has numerus large settlements and verdicts.  His practice areas include all varieties of automobile, trucking and motorcycle accidents; premise liabilities; and other general negligence matters. He is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association; Illinois Bar Association; Milwaukee Bar Association; Wisconsin Association for Justice; and is licensed to practice law in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Outside of the courtroom, Attorney Hansen has years of experience dealing and negotiating with insurance adjusters and attorneys in many varieties of injury cases.  He knows what it takes to reach large verdicts and settlements. He has successfully handled cases ranging from tractor-trailer highway accidents with significant and tragic injuries and damages, as well as harmful product claims, premises liability incidents, dog bite cases and construction accidents, to name just a few.  Attorney Hansen is passionate about riding motorcycles.  He rides his motorcycle frequently and loves to be involved in motorcycle-related community events.  Attorney Hansen has a strong focus on motorcycle accident litigation as well.

Attorney Hansen has appeared on TV, web series and podcasts for interviews with news anchors on legal matters and items in the news, as well as being featured in a viewer call-in show dealing with the public’s legal questions.

In his spare time, Attorney Hansen enjoys writing fiction, playing guitar and piano, and mixed martial arts.
