This verdict came after a several-day jury trial in front of Judge Mary Triggiano. The $4.86 million verdict drastically beat the defendant’s settlement offers before trial. In fact, the defendant’s insurance company made a settlement offer of approximately $150,000 at mediation. Around a week before trial, the insurance company upped their offer to $225,000 which we turned down. The jury verdict came back at $4.8 million with some negligence reductions.
